Tommy Perry Flanders, a graduate of Georgia Southern University, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1992. He graduated with honors from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta. Tommy is a member of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, member of the Georgia Coroner’s Association where he serves as District Director, Deputy Coroner of Bryan County, 2019 Deputy Coroner of the year for the state of Georgia and former instructor of mortuary science at Ogeechee Technical College. He is a licensed funeral director, insurance agent and embalmer with over 25 years of experience. Tommy is a member of the Academy of Graduate Embalmers and North Bryan County Chamber of Commerce and the Pembroke Downtown Development Authority. He is also a member of the First Baptist Church of Claxton where he and his wife, Julie were married in 2000. Tommy owns and operates Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Audie Powell graduated from Toombs County High School in 2000 and served 7 ½ years in the Marine Corps as a paralegal specialist and marksmanship instructor. He was deployed with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2003 during the invasion of Mosul, Iraq and a peacekeeping mission in Liberia, Africa. Audie graduated from mortuary school at Ogeechee Technical College and has worked in the funeral business since 2007. Audie serves Bryan County as Deputy Coroner, he is a Georgia certified volunteer firefighter with the Pembroke Fire Department, a member and past District 5 Chairman for the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, Georgia Coroners Association, a member of the Marine Corps League West Chatham Detachment #1326 and he is also a certified GHSA/GISA umpire, umpiring high school baseball and softball games. He is married to Allison Powell, they are members of Olive Branch Baptist Church and reside in Ellabell.

Ernest grew up in Effingham County, graduating from Effingham County High School in 1976. He married and lived in Bryan County for 23 years rearing his two children, Victoria Seigler Pape and Phillip Seigler. Ernest retired from working in the oil and gas industries after 30 years of service. He moved back to his family home in Effingham years ago. Ernest is an active member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. He has 2 wonderful grandchildren. His hobbies include floral design and yard work. Ernest has been with Flanders Powell Funeral Home since 2011.

James grew up in Montgomery and Wheeler Counties. He graduated from Wheeler County High School in 1966 and Brewton Parker College in 1968. He was married for 42 years to the late Lawara Durden from Savannah, Ga. He is the father of three children and PaPaw to five wonderful grandchildren. He attends the Savannah Holy Church of God. He retired from AT&T (Bellsouth) after 39 years of service. He has been employed by Flanders Powell Funeral Home since 2009.

Doug was born and raised in Pembroke, GA. He graduated from Bryan County High School in 1970 and later graduated from Georgia Southern University in 1976. The dough is married to Robin Smith DeLoach. They have two daughters, Betsy DeLoach Mallard and Lacey DeLoach Collins and five grandchildren. Doug retired from the Pembroke Post Office with 31 years of service as a rural carrier. He is a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon. He loves hunting, fishing and his grandchildren. He has been with Flanders Powell Funeral Home 2013.

Jesse grew up in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky in the small town of Louisa Kentucky. Upon graduating from Louisa High School Jesse enlisted in the US Army in Nov 1971 and served on active duty until retirement on 1 August 1994. Upon retirement, Jesse immediately went to work for the Owens Supply Company family serving as the Operations Manager until his wife fell ill and he retired in 2019. Jesse serves our community as the Police Chaplain for the Pembroke Police Department. He also serves as the Director of the Pembroke Police Auxiliary Unit. Jesse is an active pastor with the United Methodist Church serving the Sikes Chapel UMC in Claxton Georgia. Jesse was married 41 years to the late Brenda Aldrich France and has four wonderful children living in the Pembroke and North Bryan County areas.

Genna Catherine Squire grew up in Bulloch County and is the daughter of Lisa Edwards Squire and Todd Squire of Pembroke. Genna is a 2019 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School and is a national award-winning motocross racer. Genna enjoys arts and loves animals. She is currently working at both Flanders Powell Funeral Home and UPS and hopes to become a forensic pathologist. 

Greg was born in West Virginia but grew up in West Germany.  He is the son of the late Paul and Lois Parks. Greg has been a resident of Pembroke since 2006.  He has been a paramedic and has worked in emergency medical services since 1985.  Greg has been working for Bryan and Effingham County Emergency Services for the past 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Rex Smith is a lifelong resident of Bryan County. Rex retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation, National Guard, and City of Pembroke, and he serves as a Pembroke volunteer firefighter. He began working in the funeral business with Caldwell Morrison in 1988. Rex is also a Charter member of the United Methodist Church of Pembroke and long-time member of the Pembroke Lions Club.

Mr. Rex Smith passed away on February 13, 2019.
