Pembroke- Mr. Walter Woodrow “Woody” Turner age 77 passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Southern Manor in Statesboro. Mr. Turner was born March 9, 1945 to the late Luther Lloyd Turner and Fentrice Blanch Arnette Turner. Mr. Turner was a disabled veteran having served in the United States Army in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ellabell, John Duggar American Legion Post 164 and was a member of the Masonic Lodge F& AM. Mr. Turner enjoyed hunting, gardening and taking care of his dogs and chickens. He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Nina Jean Turner; one daughter, Helen Suzanne Turner; one brother, Claude Turner and one sister, Betty Cowman
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Shannon Turner of Ellabell and Tommy and Angelina Friese of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Tony Smith of Ellabell and Christie and Steve Howard, Jr. of Pembroke; 11 grandchildren, Erica and Hunter Stucky, Austin Friese, Kady and Tyler Jones, Tristan Friese, Courtney Adams, Wyatt Turner, Madison Turner, Samantha (Jared) Haymans, Tiffany Howard, Micaela (Matthew) Bowen and Steel Maverick Friese; six great grandchildren, Alivia Jones, Emerson Friese, Kimberlynn Taylor, Ryder Turner, Felix Collaso and Rosalie Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Flanders Powell Funeral Home
Funeral service will be 11 A. M. Friday, May 20, 2022 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Interment to follow in Ellabell Baptist Cemetery with military honors.
