Mr. James Mark Callaway, 64, passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a long illness on Friday, July 16, 2021. Mr. Callaway was born on November 29, 1956 to the late Enoch and Mildred Boyette Callaway in Claxton. He was a lifetime member of NRA and worked in the road construction business for over 33 years with Shuman Construction and later R.B. Baker Construction, building most of the major roadways such as I-16, I-95, Hwy 204, Hwy 80 and many other roads in the Coastal Empire. Mr. Callaway loved hunting and fishing from a very early age until his health declined.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, June Callaway; brothers-in-law, Billy Fanning and Jim Walsh.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Teresa K. Callaway; son, James Shawn Callaway (Rachel); daughter, K. Kasey Strickland (Robert); two brothers, Cleon Callaway (Delpha) and Dale Callaway (Gloria); three sisters, Shelba Davis (Roy), Carolyn Walsh and Wanda Fanning; six grandchildren, Amber, Abbie, Alex and Greyson Callaway, Graci and Emma Strickland; two great grandchildren, Noah and Griffin Aaron and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at First Baptist Church of Ellabell Cemetery on Monday, July 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
