Mrs. Gloria Carter, 76, died on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family after a short illness. Mrs. Carter was born in Pembroke on November 25, 1941 to the late Clarence Hazel DuBois, Sr. and Nettie Lou Hendry DuBois. She retired in 2001 from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Savannah, was a member of the First Baptist Church Pembroke, the Red Hatters and the Mad Hatters where she was the Queen Bee. She also enjoyed playing the piano, hunting, fishing, cooking, decoupage and making flower arrangements.

Ms. Carter was preceded in death by her husbands, Stephen J. Garday, Jr. and Lawrence D. Gray; her parents, the late Clarence H. DuBois, Sr. and Nettie Lou Hendry DuBois, a sister, Doris B. DuBois, and three brothers, Rev. Clarence H. DuBois, Jr., Marvin U. DuBois, Sr. and Rev. Wendell K, DuBois.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheri Garday (McCord) Geyer (Jeff) of Pooler a son Billy Jack Gray (Katie) of Ellabell, and five granddaughters, Angel McCord of Atlanta, AnnaLynne McCord of Los Angeles, CA, Rachel McCord Schirmer (Rick) of West Hollywood CA, Amber Gray, and Alexandria Gray of Ellabell, three sister-in-laws, Phyllis DuBois of Friendship, ME, Joyce DuBois of Pembroke, Janet DuBois of Taylorsville NC, and five nieces and six nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 from 1 – 2 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Darren Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow at Northside Cemetery.
