Winford "Wink" Bowen

Winford “Wink” Bowen, age 72 passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at his home.  Mr. Bowen was born in Blandville, West Virginia to the late Cloyd Leroy Bowen and Norma Jean White Bowen.  He served a combined 13 years with the United States Marine Corps and later with the United States Army.  Mr. Bowen fought in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained from anti-personnel artillery fire.  Later, he served as a radar technician for government contractors.  Mr. Bowen was a member of Harper’s Masonic Lodge F & AM, the Shriners, Scottish Rite, the Order of the Eastern Star and was a rider with the Patriot Guard.  He enjoyed both golfing and riding motorcycles.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowen was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Bowen and Jesse Morland; three brothers, Cloyd Bowen, Charles Bowen and James Bowen and two sisters, Norma Booth and Janice Williams.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Maria Holland Bowen of Ellabell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shannon and Chris Laumb of Pembroke and Tina and T.J. Hills of Pembroke; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Wendy Morlan of Las Cruces, New Mexico;   two brothers, John Bowen of Statesboro and Richard and Mary Bowen of Grand Junction, Colorado; four sisters, Kathy and Bobby Griffin of Savannah, April Harkins of Guyton, Margaret and John Hale of Wynne, Arkansas and Wilma Canterberry of Guyton; grandchildren, Denzel and Nicole Brand, Johnathan and Marissa Reed, Zachary Reed, Autumn Laumb, Oaklynn Laumb, Tia and Lexi Cramer, Brendan and Megumi Harris, William Morlan, Jasper Morlan, J.C. Morlan and Alorra Morlan and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2022 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with military honors.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.  For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed on the facebook page of Flanders Powell Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
