Together, they enjoyed cruising, exploring the beauty of the mountains—especially Pigeon Forge—and experiencing live music. Mike found immense joy in these travels, particularly when journeying with Connie, his loving wife.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashley (Candi), Ansley (Derrick), Christina "Christy" (Jordan), Morgan (Greg), Kelleigh, and Van (Heather), and great-grandchildren, Easton, Emmy, Krista, Case, Mason, Prestyn, Rowen, Gauge #1, Bryce (Emery), Rhett, Ellyanna, Maddalynn, Gauge #2, Gunner and Lilly. Mike's family also includes a great-great-grandson, Knox, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents, Walter Murphy and Margaret Hucks Murphy, his daughter Christina Denise Murphy Oliver, and his sister Sharon Balzer preceded him in death.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his steadfast character and dedication. For 48 years, he owned and operated Mike's 280 Package Store, earning the respect and admiration of the Ellabell community through his hard work and integrity.
As a devoted member of Bethany Church of Ellabell, Mike fostered a strong community spirit and faithfulness to those around him. His presence in the church and broader community will be dearly missed.
