It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vonnie Kate Sikes Vincent, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who departed this life peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on October 17, 1944, in Pembroke, Georgia, Vonnie was a cherished resident of Claxton, GA, where she crafted a life filled with warmth, love, and devotion to family.
A proud homemaker, Vonnie dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her large family, who were always her utmost priority. She shared 49 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Jerry Vincent. Together, they built a home filled with love and laughter.
Vonnie is survived by a large and loving family, including her husband of 49 years, Jerry Lee Vincent; sons: Pierce (Windy) Shuman of Pembroke, Buck (Sonja) Shuman of Pembroke, and Nelson Shuman of Hagan; her daughters: Dot (Mike) Monger of Vidalia, Penny (Todd) Purvis of Pembroke, Mary (Ricky) Deloach of Hagan, Carol (Robert) Brady of Ludowici, and Bonnie Noe of Hagan. She also leaves behind her brother, Grady Sikes of Ellabell, 24 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Vonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Kate Lee Sikes, her sisters Bonnie Sumner, Susie Deloach, and Magdalene Marotz, her brother Bobby Sikes, and her great-grandsons Nathan Coursey and Evan Shuman.
Vonnie's interests were as broad as they were heartfelt. She loved spending time solving crosswords, enjoying peaceful days of fishing, watching game shows, and delighting in Hallmark Christmas movies. Most importantly, she was a devoted member of the Abundant Life Church of God, where her presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory in Pembroke, GA, on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 am. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the same location. Pallbearers for the service will be: Pierce Shuman, Buck Shuman, Nelson Shuman, Robert Shuman, Bobby Brady, Billy Shuman, Raymond Coursey Jr., and Phillip Rogers. Rev. Stan Tyson will officiate.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Regency Southern Care Hospice and Bradley, Allie, Tyler, Tiffany Hayes, and Carolyn Gibson for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Mrs. Vonnie during her final days.
