Virginia Lois Hine, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, in her beloved home in Ellabell, Georgia. Born on March 17, 1947, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Virginia lived a vibrant and full life enriched by adventures and cherished by her family.
Virginia was a devoted homemaker who found joy in creating a warm and loving environment for her family. Her sewing and crocheting talents were evident in the countless handmade treasures she lovingly crafted. An avid gardener, Virginia's home was always surrounded by the beauty she cultivated with her own hands. She was also a passionate reader, particularly of Stephen King novels, where she found thrilling escapes into imaginative worlds.
As a child, Virginia was a "military brat," which took her to fascinating places like Italy, France, and Germany. However, the core of her heart belonged to the South, where she spent most of her formative years and ultimately built her life and family.
Virginia is survived by her two devoted daughters, Linda Hine of Ellabell, GA, and Catherine Whiddon (Kenneth) of Pt. Wentworth, GA. Her legacy also lives on in her two beloved grandchildren, Christine Frank (Joey) and Elizabeth McNew (Robert), who brought immense joy to her life.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 44 years, Lewis Frederick Hine. Virginia was also reunited with her parents, Hubert Shelley and Lois Christine Adams Shelley, and her dear daughter, Geraldine Louise Hine, in the peaceful embrace of eternity.
Arrangements to honor Virginia's life and legacy are entrusted to Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory. The family takes comfort in knowing her joyful spirit and nurturing love will forever dwell in their hearts and the hearts of all who knew her.
In memory of Virginia, her family kindly requests that anyone wishing to honor her consider embracing the small beauties of life she cherished so dearly, whether by tending to a garden, crafting something with love, or losing oneself in a good book.
