Stephanie Simons-Whitley, 52, passed away in her home on September 2, 2026. Born on October 22, 1973, she was the daughter of Carol Marklew (Overby) and William S. Simons.

Stephanie had unique passions and strong determination. She had lots of big ideas, and, in her later years, she built and ran a successful small business. She adored her pets and had a soft spot for the underdogs of the animal world- especially the creatures some might find hard to love. Outside of her rescue work, Stephanie lived for road trips, a good ghost story, the nostalgic magic of Disney, and turning up 80s music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael J. Whitley, and her second mother, Carol Campbell Simons.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Overby; her father, William S. Simons; her grandmother, Jean Simons; her brother, Chris Overby, and his family; her son, Michael S. Whitley; and her daughter, Kaitlyn (Thomas) Capper, and grandson.

In keeping with the family's wishes, no formal services will be held. Those wishing to pay respects are encouraged to memorialize her through private celebrations of life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Georgia Reptile Society.
