It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Powell Mauldin, age 79, on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026. Shirley was born on Saturday, November 30th, 1946, in Collins, Georgia.
Shirley's life will be celebrated with a visitation at Flanders Powell Funeral Home on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A funeral service in her honor will be held on Monday, August 10th, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Mr. Ronnie Love. Following the service, Shirley will be laid to rest at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 3:00 pm.
A dedicated and hardworking waitress, Shirley devoted 30 years of service to Waffle House, where she touched the lives of many with her warm smile and kind spirit. Beyond her professional life, she was a proud member of LifeSpring Worship Center and served as the Past Commander of the Ladies Auxiliary, Unit 8, for the Disabled American Veterans.
Shirley found joy in gardening and growing flowers, but her greatest passion was spending time surrounded by her beloved family. She is survived by her four devoted children: Peggy Davis of Pt. Wentworth, Johnny Mauldin of Guyton, David Mauldin of Cobbtown, and Glenn Mauldin of Daytona, FL. Her legacy continues with 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one precious great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her loving family, Shirley reunites in eternal peace with her cherished husband of 58 years, Arnice Dupree Mauldin; her parents, Luther Powell and Essie Mosley Mauldin; her seven brothers, Perry G. Powell, Willard Powell, Jean Powell, L.P. Powell, Kenneth Powell, Carl Powell, and Bill Powell; and two sisters, Marynell Pervis and Corenna Powell.
Arrangements are lovingly provided by Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
Shirley's indomitable spirit, devotion to her family, and the impact she made on those who knew her will forever be remembered and cherished.
