Shirley Ann Gillenwater Hursey

Mrs. Shirley Ann Gillenwater Hursey, 87, passed away at her home on Friday, September 5, 2025. She was born in Savannah to the late Paul L. Johnson and Ethel C. Gillenwater on May 9, 1938. Mrs. Hursey enjoyed reading, taking vacations in the mountains, watching True Crime movies and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Bethany Church of Ellabell for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul L. Johnson and Ethel C. Gillenwater and her husband of 66 years, Delmus Kenneth Hursey.

Survivors include her four daughters, Paula H. Lower (Rodger) of Kingsland, Robin C. Hursey of Ellabell, Lisa M. Hursey of Ellabell and Shannon L. Craft of Ellabell; son, Brian Kenneth Hursey of Ellabell; five grandchildren, Brooke L. Hoskinson (Micah), Caitlyn A. Lower (Jake Bergal), Diana M. Moon (Cedron) and Abigail M. Summers (Albert), and Jonathan D. Craft; six great grandchildren, Joseph Moon (Bethany), Joshua Moon (Kaitlin), Hailey and Johnna Summers, James and Elle Hoskinson; and one great great grandson, River Church and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andrew Dunkle officiating.

Burial will be private.
