With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sherry Elmyra Parks Loney, aged 69, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. A cherished resident of Savannah, GA, Sherry leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family and community. Born in Welch, West Virginia, on a Tuesday in the spring of 1957, Sherry was a beacon of warmth and kindness, traits she carried with her throughout her life.
Sherry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Francis Loney; her devoted parents, Paul Cleveland Parks and Lois Ellen Christian Parks; and her brother, Audie Cleveland Parks. She is survived by her loving siblings, Paula E. Parks of Pembroke, Vickey Everson (Christopher) of Pembroke, Lisa Sexton of Virginia, and Gregory Parks (CJ) of Claxton, with whom she shared many cherished memories.
Though Sherry did not have biological children of her own, she embraced her role as a stepmother to Melissa Harde (Joey) and Katrina Sherrod, both of Savannah, with open arms and a full heart. Her nurturing spirit extended to her eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who were blessed to experience her love daily. She was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Sherry's professional life flourished as she dedicated herself to her role as a Medical Records Clerk at St. Joseph's/Candler. Her compassionate nature was evident in every task she undertook. A caring and loving woman, Sherry was known for putting the needs of her family above her own, embodying the true spirit of selflessness.
In her early years, Sherry was a homemaker, finding joy in nurturing her family and creating a loving home. Her talents as a wonderful cook were well-known, and she delighted in sharing meals and moments with family and friends. Sherry had a deep affection for animals, a passion for music and dancing—the BeeGees being a particular favorite—and a love for children and babies, whom she treated as her own, displaying motherly dedication to all who had the privilege to know her.
A celebration of Sherry's life will take place at Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory in Pembroke, GA, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 12:00 pm with Rev. Stan Tyson officiating. A visitation will be held on the same day one hour prior to the service at the same location.
Arrangements are in the compassionate care of Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
In Sherry's passing, we say goodbye not just to a sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, but to a woman who showcased unwavering loyalty and love throughout her lifetime. Her memory will continue to dance in our hearts forever.
