Sadie Louise Jenkins

Mrs. Sadie Louise Jenkins, age 91, passed away at her residence on Saturday, February 25, 2023. She was born in Pembroke to the late Benjamin Elbert Newman and Gertha Burnsed Newman on April 15, 1931. Mrs. Jenkins was a loving and devoted homemaker; she always put others first and loved sewing, gardening, cooking and making Sunday dinners for her family and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Jenkins of 51 years; one son, Randy Jenkins; four brothers, B.E. Newman, Jr., Thomas Newman, Edsel Newman and Barron Newman; two sisters, Christine Willard and Martha Jean Ward; son-in-law, Wendell Smith; two daughters-in-law, Debbie Jenkins and Jan Folsom Jenkins; granddaughter, Jessi Jenkins Pennington and great-great grandson, Wyatt Drew Howell.

Survivors include three children, Vickie Jenkins Smith, Jimmy Michael Jenkins and Benny Norman Jenkins all of Pembroke; sister-in-law, Sue Newman; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; two special nephews, Gary Jenkins and Danny Lanier; special niece, Wanda Lanier Vickery and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jake Futch officiating.

Burial will be held at Red Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
