Ellabell-Mrs. Ruth L. Holmes Ridley age 88 passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Ogeechee Area Hospice while in the presence of her loving family. Mrs. Ridley was a long-time resident of Bloomingdale before moving to Ellabell in 2007. She was a homemaker and attended The Bridge and Westside Christian Church in Bloomingdale. She loved her family, cats, crosswords, yard-work, was an avid doll collector as well as an excellent cook. She was predeceased by her husband Wilburn Seth Ridley, and parents Grady and Lena Childers Holmes.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law James and Dale Ridley of Rincon, Jerry and Mary Faye Ridley of Cairo, daughter and son-in-law Linda and Roy New of Ellabell, brother Charles Holmes and of Chatsworth; 8 grandchildren Terrell, Patrick, Dana, Angela, Jessica, Gabe, James Seth, and Jake, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchild.
Visitation will begin 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Dr. Lawrence Butler officiating. Interment will follow at 3 P.M. in Hillcrest Abbey West, Garden City. Memorial contributions may be made to, Ogeechee Area Hospice, 200 Donehoo St., Statesboro, GA. 30458 or any animal shelter.
