Mrs. Ruby Tucker Carter, 85, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2015 at her residence with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Carter was a member of Ellabell United Methodist Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening, quilting and most of all spending time with her family. She worked part time with the Bryan County Tax Commissioners Office but spent most of her time as a house wife.
She is preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Carter; parents, Erastus Tucker and Fannie Barrow Tucker; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include daughters Clara Carter Shearouse and Carolyn Carter Lee both of Ellabell; brothers, J.C. Tucker of Ellabell and Wilton Tucker and wife Audrey of Guyton; grandchildren, Charlotte Waters, Bonnie Godbee and husband Chris, Melanie Smith and Robert Strickland and wife Kasey; great-grandchildren, Jamie Waters, Graci Strickland, Emma Strickland, Raheem Irving, Malika Irving, Ethan Godbee, Dallas Bacon, Briana Smith and Kierra Smith.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 6 until 9 P.M.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 11 A.M. with Dr. Joe Leatherwood officiating.
Burial will follow at Ellabell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ellabell United Methodist Church or Hospice Savannah.
