Roy New

Mr. Roy New, age 82, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. Mr. New was born in Wrightsville, GA to the late Charles LeRoy New and Annie Grace Boyles New on October 27, 1940. He served eight years in the National Guard and retired after of 41 years of service with International Paper. Mr. New was a member of The Bridge Church where he served as an usher. He loved his family unconditionally and enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening and tending to his chickens and dogs. Roy also enjoyed carpentry and mechanics.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Rudolph, Mary Ann Simmons, Frances Williams and Virginia New and one brother, James New.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Ridley New; two sons, Terrell New and his wife Stacy of Ellabell and Patrick New and his wife Rachel of Richmond Hill; daughter, Dana Bertagnolli of Savannah; as well as 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his brother’s wife Faye New of Ellabell. Also, his faithful canines Louie and Lena.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home in Pembroke, GA.

Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Doctor Lawrence Butler officiating.

Burial will be private.
