Roudolph 'Raymond' Wren went to be with the Lord Our God and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. Raymond was born in the quaint little town of Swainsboro on December 5th, 1953. He and his family moved shortly after to Portal and then finally laid their roots in Savannah, where he continued to live for over 50 years. He was a student at 37th Street School, Charles Ellis, Chatham Jr. High, Savannah High and Richard Arnold, where he graduated. He went on to work at the Chicken Shack, Effingham County as a surveyor, a dock worker at Old Dominion, Five transportation, K-Mart warehouse at Georgia Ports, Burger King and retired as a manager from Bojangles to take care of his mother until her passing. Raymond was known by many and loved by all through the years for his kind spirit, loving heart and gentle soul. One of his proudest accomplishments was being inducted as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was seen as a great big teddy bear for his love and compassion for others and always thought of their needs. There wasn't a day, nor an hour, he would not call about something he had seen that could help others. To know Raymond was to also know amazing home cooked foods from giblet gravy, collards and cornbread to biscuits, Nan-Nan's banana pudding and his famous pound cake. Through the years he struggled with his health, but he did not let it define his life. He was a God fearing man and loved to read his bible daily and lived by the scriptures within. His most loved verse was Psalm 91 and always said God is awesome. We will miss your smiles and laughter, jokes and home cooked meals, but most of all you and we pray for your eternal peace, knowing you are no longer in pain.
He is preceded in death by his mother Agnes Mary (Wren) Oglesby, his father Rudolph Ray Wren, his sister Jeannie (Sills) and David Hutchinson and their son David, his brother in law Hubert 'Dippy' Barnard, his nephew Jose Rivera and 'Granny' Lucy Ellis.
He leaves behind his sisters Agnes 'Marie' (Wren) Barnard, Connie (Sills) and Tommy McKenna, his brothers Donnie Sills, James Sills, his nieces Shannon (Woodcock) Rivera, Sherry Woodcock, his great nieces Amber Rivera (William Rogers), Brittany Rivera (Tucker Sims), Destinee' (Rivera) and Johnny Nugent, CheyAnne Woodcock Howard, his great nephew Matt Whelan, his 2x great niece Bryleigh Rogers, and his 2x great nephews John Tyler Gilpatrick, Zachary Whelan, Liam Rogers, Chase and Levi Sims.
