Mr. Robert Wade Adams, 94, of Nevils, died June 29, 2017 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. He was born in Anderson, S.C. on March 17, 1923 to the late Robert Franklin Adams and Mary Catherine Morrison Adams. He joined the Army right after the attack of Pearl Harbor and served with the 101st Airborne for the duration of World War II. Most of his wartime he was stationed in New Guinea and Australia. He married Arrie Darsey on January 2, 1945. Mr. Adams was a member of the Masonic Lodge F&AM and was of the Christian Faith. He was a Jack Of All Trades, had many varied interests. He was a photographer, farmer, shrimper, mechanic, carpenter whom operated a service station and a marina as well as being a bus driver and long haul truck driver before retiring from Colonial Oil Industries as a Boiler Room Supervisor in 1985. During his retirement years he was an avid gardener. He lived in Savannah and Midway on Isle of Wight for many years before moving to Nevils to be near his family the last twenty years.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two brothers, Buck Adams and Virgil Adams; sister, Janie Bell Adams Darsey; wife of 65 years, Arrie Darsey Adams and a great-great grandson, Levi Josiah Clark.

Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Adams (Patsy), Danny Adams (Kim) of Nevils; grandchildren, Donna Ramsey (Dan), Cody Adams (Sandra), Katie Fisher (Mark), James Adams all of Nevils and Shari Swigart (John) of Virginia; 11 great grandchildren, Skyler Clark (Christian), Kaitlyn Ramsey, Nicole Ramsey, Gale Ramsey, Robbie Wheeles, Jacob Wheeles, Megan Wheeles, Aiden Adams, Cailin Fisher, Addison Adams, Tristan Fisher and one great-great grandchild, Asher Clark and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Northside Cemetery.

Special thanks to The Lodge at Bethany in Statesboro where he resided in great hands the past eight months in their Memory Care Unit.
