Mr. Thomas Richard Smith, 81, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 4, 2020. Mr. Smith was born in Bulloch County on May 20, 1938 to the late Thomas Roosevelt and Edith Denmark Smith. After graduating from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1956, he served in the Army National Guard and Air National Guard. He was a farmer and contract painter, member of Lower Ash Branch Primitive Baptist Church and the John Duggar American Legion Post 164 and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nadine White Smith; son, Richard “Derrell” Smith and his wife Kim; two daughters, Rachel Smith Beckworth and her husband Ronald and Emily P. Emrich and her husband Ron; two brothers; Robert A. Smith and his wife Bobbie and Linwood Smith and his wife Shirley; sister, Linda S. Miller and her husband John W. “Winky”; nine grandchildren, Marti B. Carr and her husband Donnie, Jessi B. Shuman and her husband Bubba, Clarissa B. Slivka and her husband Ken, Caren S. LaSalata and her husband Brad, Amanda Smith, Bradley Smith, Michael A. Berry and his wife Kristen, Shawn R. Berry and his wife Chelsy and Nikki Berry, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Joseph Killingsworth and Reverend Clint Sullens officiating.

Burial will be held following the service at Red Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be; Donnie Carr, Bubba Shuman, Peyton Carr, Spencer Carr, Trace Shuman, Daniel Shuman, Brad Smith and Brad LaSalata.

Honorary pallbearers will be; Southeast Bulloch High School 1956 graduating class and all first cousins.
