Mr. Richard Eli "Ricky" McCoy, 74, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 17, 2026. He was born in Bulloch County to the late Alton McCoy and Mary Davis McCoy on October 28, 1951. Ricky graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1969. He started his career with the Department of Transportation in 1970 where he was known for his commitment to excellence and his ability to engage everyone around him. His strong work ethic and passion for his profession were evident throughout his career. What defined him the most was his character and integrity after serving in various positions for 34 years, Ricky retired as the area engineer in Statesboro in 2001. Ricky started with the City of Pembroke in 2001 and worked for 20 years and later retired from the City in 2020. Ricky enjoyed traveling, attending church at East Main Street Church of God and reading the newspaper.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby, Billy, Donnie and Terry; sister, Patricia Lanier; brother-in-law Jimmy Ray Garrett; three sisters-in-law, Janara McCoy, Georgene McCoy and Katherine McCoy; two grandchildren, Grayson and Emma McCoy and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Gail Garrett McCoy; son, Richard "Richie" Carsen McCoy of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Parker McCoy of Ruston, Louisiana Brodie McCoy of Pembroke, Maggie McCoy and Mollie McCoy both of Alpharetta Ga. two sisters, Annette Bacon (Ray) of Pembroke and Mary Ruth Bacon (Steve) of Blackshear; sister-in-law, Marcia McCoy (Jesse) of Pembroke; three brothers-in-law, Billy Lanier of Pembroke, Charles Garrett (Debbie) and Billy Garrett (Glenda) all of Vidalia and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be held at Lawrence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ricky will be remembered by many for his dedication to his family, faith and service to others. His spirit and influence will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family would like to extended a special thank you to the staff at Ogeechee Area Hospice and his caregiver Carol Canty.
