Peggy Sue Sheppard Cain, a beloved member of the Bloomingdale, GA community, passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on Tuesday, July 27th, 1954, Peggy was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose warm presence and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed.
Peggy dedicated over 17 years of her life to her career as a manager at Waffle House, where she was known not only for her hardworking nature but also for her kindness and ability to brighten the day of everyone she encountered. Outside of work, Peggy cherished her time spent with her beloved dogs and chickens, fishing and found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her expansive family.
She leaves behind a loving family to carry on her legacy, including her devoted husband of 37 years, Billy Cain; her son, Robert Hall, Jr.; her daughter, Tina Everett and her husband, Jessie; her stepdaughter, Geneva Cain; her brother, Grady Riner; and two sisters, Laura Williams and Paulette Sheffield. Peggy was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Dean Hall, Dustin Ruarks, Harly Hall, Tyler Ray, Jason Scott, Dylan Driggers, Kayla Driggers, Elizabeth Everett, Donovein Everett, Akemi Everett, Ashley Williams, and Gabrielle Dasher. She also adored her 13 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Elijah, Brody, Hunter, Liam, Kenzie, Braxton, Lily, Preston, William, Kayce, Evelynn, and Kenzo.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, James Sheppard Sr.; her mother, Gladys Hall; her stepmother, Ruby Riner; two twin children at birth; two stepdaughters, Lydia Cain and Brenda Cain; three brothers, James Sheppard, Jr., Bobby Sheppard, and Edgar "E.T." Sheppard; and two sisters, Sarah Parker and Gladys Sheppard.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, January 25th, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
Arrangements are being handled by Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory. Peggy Sue Sheppard Cain leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and dedication to family, and she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
