Paul Gibson

Mr. Paul Luther Gibson, age 64, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, January 28, 2022. Mr. Gibson was born in Munich, Germany on September 9, 1957 and his parents were Vernon J. and Pauline Baker Gibson. He retired after 19 years of service in the U.S. Army as a SFC and then went to work in Asset Protection with Gulfstream Aerospace for 10 years and later as an Asset Protection Manager at Wal-Mart for 10 years. Mr. Gibson enjoyed fishing, photography, woodworking, tinkering as an auto mechanic, music, watching hummingbirds and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member and former Post Commander with the John Duggar American Legion Post 164 and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Mr. Gibson also helped with the Pembroke Christmas parade for many years as a parade line coordinator for the Bryan County 4-H, and he attended Pembroke United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vernon J. and Pauline Baker Gibson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Rhetta Ann Gibson; two children, Patrick Gibson and his wife Michelle of Maricopa, AZ and Shauna Gibson Williams of Ellabell; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Stan Tyson officiating.

Burial will be private.
