Ellabell- Mrs. Margie "Nana" Wiggins Powell, age 75 passed away, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at her home while surrounded by her family. Mrs. Powell was a long-time resident of Ellabell and retired as a server at Love's Restaurant. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Baptist Church. Mrs. Powell was an avid reader, an excellent cook and a devoted caregiver to her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Mr. Robert Thomas Powell, Sr.; parents Robert Thomas Powell, Sr. and Jewel Inez Ashmore Powell; sister, Gail Sullivan; brother-in-laws James "Monk" Lee and Eddie Ushiro
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Robert T. Powell, Jr. and Fran Powell of Lexington, SC; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Dan Story of Acworth and Cindy and Joe Williams of Pembroke; adopted daughter Vicky Moody of Ellabell; one brother and sister-in-law Joel Garrett Wiggins, Jr. and Patsy Wiggins of Statesboro; three sisters and brothers-in-law Dolores W. Ushiro of Kissimmee, FL, Beverly Lee of Jacksonville and Nancy W. and John Wood of Black Creek; and Rev. Jim Sullivan of Ellabell; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
A memorial service will be held 3 P.M. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Rev. Ernie Banks and Deacon Ben Rodriguez officiating. A private committal service will be held at Georgia Veterans Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Savannah or Eden Village Church. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
