Ellabell-Mrs. Betty J. Glisson Newman age 82 passed away Tuesday October 23, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Newman was a homemaker and longtime resident of Bulloch County in Ellabell where she had been a lifelong member of Olive Branch Baptist church. She loved gardening, hunting, needlework, and enjoyed riding motorcycles. She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years Joseph G. Newman, Sr. and parents Thomas E. and Nettie Moore Glisson.
She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws Joseph G. (Brenda) Newman, Jr., Charles M. Newman, and Randall I. (Gloria) Newman, Sr.; and daughter and son-in-law Teresa A. (Darrell) Newman all of Ellabell; sister and brother-in-law Drucilla (Bernie) White of Pooler, six grandchildren Connie Simpson, Jody Newman, Marion Newman, Lora Wilson, Randy "Bubba" Newman Jr., and B. J. Stewart and other family members.
Visitation is 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Thursday at Olive Branch Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Sullens officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
