Pembroke- Mr. Jesse Butler, age 91 of Pembroke, died Friday afternoon August 24, 2012 at his home. Mr. Butler was an Army veteran of WWII having served in the Philippines and at Pearl Harbor. Before his service he worked in the Southeast Ship Yard in Savannah and after service, he worked in the logging business until his retirement in 1975. Mr. Butler loved to garden, both vegetables in the spring and flowers year round. He was predeceased by one grandson, C.J. Butler.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Mrs. Annette Smith Butler of Pembroke; one son and daughter-in-law Glenn and Shirley Butler of Pembroke; two brothers Billy "Gabby" Butler and Hermon Butler, both of Pembroke; grandchildren Logyn Butler Irving of Pembroke, Mercer Baggs of Orlando and Evans Baggs of San Francisco; great grandchildren Riley Fleener, Layla Dameron, Carolyn Irving, and Mallory and Malin Baggs; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Sunday, August 26 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 A.M. Monday in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with interment to follow in Northside Cemetery. Flandersmorrisonfuneralhome.com
