Bulloch County-Clayton Moncess Lanier, age 74 passed away on May 16, 2013 at Ogeechee Area Hospice while surrounded by his loving children, family, and friends after a short battle with cancer. Clayton was born on August 13, 1938 to Moncess and DeAlva Mitchell Lanier. He was a life long resident of Bulloch County and graduated on May 28, 1956 from Southeast Bulloch High School. He was a man of faith, honor, and integrity. He started working as a construction worker for the Local Union # 709 in 1957. He was a member of Local Union # 709 for 56 years. He also held the position of Assistant Business Agent Apprentice Trainee. He was a member of the Pembroke Masonic Lodge 469.

Clayton met and married the Love of his Life Gail Conley Lanier on May 6, 1960. Mr. Lanier was a veteran of the Air National Guard Reserve 165 th unit. He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Beulah Baptist Church for 47 years. He proudly served as Chairman of the Deacons and Church Moderator. He also held office as Sunday School Superintendant and was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church Brotherhood and enjoyed singing in the Choir, reading his Bible, and sharing his Faith and Love for his heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He loved to fish, landscape, working in his yards and shop; where he built many projects. He loved spending time with his loyal canine companion, Hank.

He is preceeded in death by first wife Gail Conley Lanier of 32 years, parents Moncess and De Alva Lanier, and his granddaughter Clair Lanier.

He is survived by wife Brenda Lanier of Martinez, daughter and son-in-law Linda and James Hendley of Pembroke, sons and daughter-in-laws Wayne and Sheri Lanier of Savannah, and Charles and Deborah Boyd Lanier of Stilson; brothers and sister-in-laws Truman and Jackie Lanier of Pembroke, Waymon and Lajuan Lanier of Pembroke and Robert Lanier of Nevils, sisters and brother-in-law Janice Smith of Woodstock, Joyce and Marvin Medders of Milledgeville, Alice and John Dowd and Carolyn Lanier both of Pembroke; grandchildren Michael, Shannon, and Ryan Hendley, Lindsay and Lauren Lanier, and a great grandson Layton Lanier; Beulah Baptist Church Family and his Faithful, Loyal Canine Companion Hank.

Visitation will be held 5-8 P.M. Saturday May 18, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2 P.M. Sunday at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Bryant and Elder Keith Hamilton officiating. Military and Masonic rites will be observed at the graveside. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O.Box 299 Pembroke, GA 31321. Flanders Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements
