Mrs. Mattie Lee Bacon, 95, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Mrs. Bacon was born in Pembroke on August 28, 1922 to the late Wesley and Molly Gill Shuman. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her family and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe “J.T.” Thomas Bacon; two sons, Charlie Bacon and Arnold Bacon and a daughter, Linda Diane Adams.

Survivors include four sons, Thomas Bacon and his wife Christina of Columbia, SC, Joe Bacon of Savannah, Kenny Bacon and his wife Barbara of Pembroke and Michael Bacon and his wife Judy of Pembroke;  four daughters, Miriam Smith and her husband Joe of Claxton, Jewel Dean  Coley of Augusta, Brenda May and her husband Michael of Lady Lake, FL and Patricia “Sissy” Blair and her husband Oren of Black Creek; 27 grandhcildren; 67 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Spencer officiating.

Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
