Mary Frances "Freda" Bacon

Mrs. Mary Frances “Freda” Paine Bacon, age 85, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 after an extended illness.  Mrs. Bacon was born in Clyde, GA to the late George H. and Mary Smith Paine. She was a 1950 graduate of Bryan County High School and long-time member of the Pembroke Christian Church.  Mrs. Bacon was an excellent cook and a wonderful loving mother and wife. She was an exceptional business lady and was former owner and operator of Freda’s Groceries, Bacon’s IGA, Pembroke’s Western Auto, Bacon’s Laundry Mat and Bacon’s Feed and Seed.

She is preceded in death by on brother, George Paine and sister, Wilhelmina Paine Tuten.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Harold Douglas Bacon; son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Paine and Toni Nelson Bacon of Pembroke; grandchildren, William Bacon and Lauren Martin, brother-in-law, Johnny Tuten and several nieces and nephews including Rusty and Craig Neesmith and April Shinke.

Visitation will be held 6-9 P.M. Sunday, July 2, 2017 at the funeral home.

Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Monday, July 3, 2017 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Sullivan officiating.

Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
