Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Beam Powell, 69, passed away peacefully in Jesus' Hands surrounded by her family on Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born on August 24, 1948 in Colquitt, Georgia. She, along with her brothers, sisters grew up at the Georgia Baptist Children's Home in Baxley, Ga. where she met and dated under close supervision her husband. She was a graduate of Appling County High School, Brewton Parker College and also attended Georgia Southern University. Mary worked at the local chevy dealership for 32 years doing clerical work before retiring in 2012 and was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Lyons. She enjoyed arts, crafts, puzzles, Yahtzee, The Golden Girls, game shows and was an avid University of Georgia Bulldog football fan.  She also enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and especially doing school work with her granddaughter Bryleigh.

She is preceded in death by her adopted parents, Troy and Leola Williams

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Monte Powell; two sons, Audie Powell and his wife Allison of Guyton and Michael Troy Powell and his companion Hali Lafavor of Vidalia; two brothers, Paul Beam and is wife Shari of Chattanooga, TN and Audie Beam and his wife Becky of Guyton; two sisters, Joanna Batson and her husband Ken of Atlanta, GA and Jeannie Hall and her husband Cecil "Santa Claus" of Matthews, NC; four grandchildren, Bryleigh Powell, Mason Powell, Ben Sama and Beau Sama and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 2 - 3 pm at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia.

Funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Brother Jim Sowden and Brother Calvin Bradley officiating.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org/HEARTORG/ or the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Baxley, GA.
