Mrs. Lorraine Ray Fountain, age 87, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022. She was born on May 13, 1934 to the late Lonnie L. and Ruby Bowen Ray in Statesboro. She was a supervisor for over 15 years at the Pembroke Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Fountain enjoyed cooking, she played the stand-up bass with her late husband in the Bryan County Bluegrass Band, was a busy bee but most important to her, was spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, John Mason “J.M.” Fountain, Jr.; son, James Randall “Randy” Fountain; and two daughters-in-law, Joyce Fountain and Robin Fountain.
Survivors include two sons, David Fountain and his wife Gail of Pembroke and Brian Fountain of Pembroke; two daughters, Lynn Ryan and her husband Chris of Pembroke and Angie Fountain and her fiancé Mickey Bonilla; 11 grandchildren, Keith Conley, Kristy Joyner, Keli Fountain, Kevin Fountain, Kimberly Fountain, Krystal Butler, Kandice Butler, Kasey Fountain, Kricket Fountain, Khristopher Fountain and Karen Lowery; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Kurt Bacon officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
