On September 20, 2025, God called His servant, Joyce Imogene Mason Quattlebaum, 89, of Thomasville, home. Joyce was born on May 25, 1936, in Pembroke, GA, to the late Loren and Corrine Mason. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle John Quattlebaum, Sr., her sisters, Florene, Clarice, Mildred, and Estelle, and her brother, Edwin.
Mrs. Quattlebaum’s life was one of love, faith, and service to others. She grew up in Pembroke on the family homestead, where she often spent her days playing with her siblings and helping with farm work. After graduating high school, she met and married her beloved husband, Doyle, on October 26, 1958. Together they shared 49 wonderful years, serving their community and lovingly raising their family, until his passing in 2007. Joyce missed him deeply every day and carried his memory with her throughout her life.
A faithful member of The Connection Assembly, Joyce had a true servant’s heart. She could often be found in the church kitchen, rocking babies in the nursery, or working to keep the church grounds beautiful. When not serving at church, she poured her love into her home and family. She was a gifted homemaker who baked countless cakes, tended her garden and flowers, and created a home where family and friends always felt welcome. Her grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life, and she cared for them daily with the same love and patience she extended to everyone. Joyce never met a stranger and was a second mother to many. Her warmth filled every room, and her life stands as a legacy of generosity, devotion, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her son, Doyle John Quattlebaum, Jr. (Cindy) of Thomasville; grandchildren, Lyle Quattlebaum (Cathy) of East Point, FL, and Ashlyn DuCharme (Chase) of Macon, GA; great-grandchildren, Thomas Quattlebaum and Luka Quattlebaum; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved so deeply.
Funeral services celebrating Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Bryant officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
