It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Steve Stone, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who departed this world on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on Wednesday, May 17, 1950, in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia, John was a cherished resident of Statesboro, GA, where he spent the later years of his life.

John was a man of strength and dedication. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, embodying the values of duty and honor. After his military service, John embarked on a long and dedicated career as a Meter Reader with the Savannah Gas Company, where he worked diligently to provide for his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Henry Elijah Stone and Jennie Leigh Stone, as well as his dear spouse, Jan Willine Stone.

John is survived by his treasured daughter, Angela Merritt, and his son, Henry Stone, who carry forward his compassionate spirit and warmth. His enduring legacy is further celebrated by his 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who were sources of immense pride and joy to him. Additionally, John leaves behind two sisters and several cherished nieces and nephews, who will forever remember him as a guiding and caring presence in their lives.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held privately to honor John's life.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, who have shown great care and compassion during this time.

John will be fondly remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his service to his country. His memory will forever linger in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
