John Richard "Jack" Macher

With profound sadness, we announce that John Richard "Jack" Macher Jr., a cherished resident of Ellabell, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Savannah, Georgia, on September 3, 1947, Jack led a life full of joy, love, and remarkable achievements.

Jack was the beloved son of the late John Richard Macher Sr. and Louise Coyle Macher. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 55 years, Susan Crawley Macher, whose love and companionship enriched every day of his life.

Jack's educational journey began at Blessed Sacrament School, continued at Benedictine Military School, and culminated in his graduation from Savannah Christian. He carried this foundation forward into a dedicated professional life, serving as a courier for BeavEx. Jack was of the Catholic faith.

Athletic from a young age, Jack excelled in sports under the mentorship of his father during their time with the Wildcats Athletic Organization. His love for surfing started at Tybee Island and brought him numerous accolades, including a prestigious Southern District Championship in Virginia Beach, VA. Jack's talent saw him compete on the national stage, where he was admired for his extraordinary skill and passion.

Jack is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Marie M. Dotson (Gene) and Debra M. Moesch, both of Savannah, whose lives are intertwined with an abundance of shared memories. He also leaves behind six adored nephews and nieces: Joseph E. Dotson, III., Dean V. Moesch, Jr., Matthew M. Dotson, Jennifer M. Collins, John R. Moesch, and Katherine D. Toraya, as well as several grand nephews, nieces, and cousins who will continue to celebrate his legacy.

The graveside service for Jack will be private.

In lieu of flower, the family has requested memorial donations to be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church of Savannah.

Arrangements are provided by Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, who helped ensure that Jack's final journey reflects the respect and admiration he inspired throughout his life.

Jack's indomitable spirit will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered. May he rest in peace.
