Obituary

John Phillip Hall, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9th, 2026, at the age of 61. A longtime resident of Ellabell, Georgia, John was born on February 1st, 1965, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late John Grady Hall and Merle Janice Cooper Hall.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Courtney M. Hall, and their cherished daughters, Savannah Martel Hall and Elizabeth Cooper Hall, both of Ellabell. He also leaves behind his sisters, Gwen Desselle (Jim) of Snellville, and Karen Reese (Wayne) of Cuthbert. He was a beloved uncle to his nephew, Jay Desselle, and nieces, Shannon Kaye and April Collier. John is also fondly remembered by his aunt, Delores Cooper and numerous cousins and extended family members.

A proud alumnus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, John knew at an early age growing up on his family farm growing corn, peanuts, tobacco and raising hogs that his life would be spent doing the work that he cherished doing with his family. He started out grading tobacco with the USDA and later switched his career path to become a committed Soil Conservationist with the Natural Resource Conservation Service where he dedicated 39 years of service. His unwavering passion for preserving the earth resonated deeply with his professional endeavors and personal life.

John had a profound appreciation for nature, often finding peace and joy in simply watching it rain. An avid traveler, he delighted in exploring new places, especially Disney World and Disney cruises, which he shared with his family.

In his community, John was known for his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner and operator of Ellabell Goldens, a renowned breeder of golden retrievers. His favorite dog, Dixie Mae, held a special place in his heart.

John's warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family is comforted by their cherished memories and the love he bestowed upon them throughout his life.
