Stilson- James David “J.D.” Simpson, III, age 62, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his home. Mr. Simpson was born in Louisiana to the late James David Simpson, Jr. and Ruby Faye Simpson. Mr. J.D. was the long-time owner and operator of Simpson Construction Co. where he was a chip hauler and heavy equipment operator. He loved his work, especially digging ponds and clearing land. He was a member of Acts 29: Church Unto God in Waycross and was a fan of both Gunsmoke and Andy Griffin.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by one infant sister and one son, Jamie Simpson.
Survivors include his two daughters and son-in-law, Suzanne and Joe Love of Garfield and Kristy Taylor of Statesboro; three stepchildren, Lynn Ranew, Ben Pollard, and David Pollard, five grandchildren, Chelsea Bowen and her fiancé, Michael Snyder, James D. Simpson, David Taylor, Jacob Taylor and Kayleigh Taylor; four great grandchildren, Aubree Snyder, Paisley Snyder, Raegan Snyder and Madilyn Snyder; and godchildren, Shawn and Angela Bowen of Brooklet.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in the chapel of Flanders Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Booth officiating.
Pallbearers include Shawn Bowen, Hunter Yates, Ryan Robertson, David Pollard, Jessie Alston and Patrick Crews. Junior Brown will serve as honorary pallbearer.
Interment will follow in Leefield Corinth Cemetery in Brooklet.
