Mr. Jack Fulton Edwards, Jr., age 85, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, December 28, 2020. Mr. Edwards was born in Ellabell to the late Jack Fulton Edwards, Sr. and Maude Johnson Edwards on May 18, 1935. He served in the Army National Guard for eight years and then transferred over to active duty with the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He was employed as a Radar Avionics Technician on P-3 Airborne Early Warning (AEW) and the Long-Range Tracker (LRT) aircrafts supporting drug interdiction missions for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Office at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas until his retirement in 2005. Mr. Edwards had received an Associates Degree in Accounting at Georgia Southern University. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Springfield and enjoyed reading, working on old cars, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved to travel, with his journeys taking him throughout most of North and South America.
In addition to his parents, Jack Fulton Edwards, Sr. and Maude Johnson Edwards, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harry Edwards.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Julia Diaz Edwards; children, Daniel Edwards of Rincon, David Edwards and his wife Tracy of Statesboro and Gloria Bazemore and her husband Allan of Guyton; three sisters, Marian E. Page of Ellabell, Virginia E. Spell of Ellabell and Nancy Walker of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Destiny Edwards Scott and her husband Fred of Register, David Edwards, Jr. of Statesboro and Brandi Bazemore Ellis and her husband Joshua of Newington; five great grandchildren, Ysabella Edwards of Register, Grayson Page of Ellabell, Audrey Page of Ellabell, Easton Scott of Register and Julianna Ellis of Newington and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosary Service will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Springfield, Georgia followed by the Catholic Memorial Mass at 2:30 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Martino Nguyen officiating.
Inurnment will follow at Page Family Cemetery in Ellabell, Georgia.
