Mr. Hermon Butler, Sr., 81, passed away at his residence on Monday, August 21, 2017. Mr. Butler, Sr. was born to the late Virgil Bolton and Ruth Shuman Butler on January 11, 1936, in Pembroke. He was an avid gardener, excellent cook, served as the Bryan County Probate Judge from 1980 to 2000 and was the owner and operator of Hee-Haw Barber Shop in the late sixties and seventies. Mr. Butler, Sr. also loved horses and was active in local riding clubs and was the President of the Georgia Foundation of Saddle Clubs, was the Past Master of the Pembroke Masonic Lodge #469 F&AM, and a member of Pembroke Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Claudine Crowe Butler.
Survivors include two sons, Hermon “Dink” Butler, Jr. and his wife Linda of Statesboro and Al Butler and his wife Robin of Pembroke; four grandchildren, Taylor, Kaelyn, Braedon, Hannah Claudine Butler, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at 10 a.m., in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jim Sullivan officiating.
Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
