Herbert Owens

Mr. Herbert Ross Owens, Jr., 91, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. Mr. Owens, Jr. was born on May 26, 1927 to the late Herbert Ross Owens, Sr. and Edith Lanier Owens in Bulloch County. He was the owner and operator for many years at Owens Supply Company, a member of Pembroke United Methodist Church and the Jaycee’s. Mr. Owens, Jr. enjoyed gardening, watching NASCAR and later in life became fond of cats.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of 65 years, Lathia Dolores Kitchens Owens.

Survivors include three sons, Herbert Owens (Delores), Michael Owens (Cheryl) and Paul Owens (Joyce) all of Pembroke; four brothers, Harry Owens (Elvie) of Pembroke, Sidney Owens (Joan) of Baltimore, MD, Sonny Owens (Jean) of Pembroke and Richard Owens (Bonita) of Ridgeland, SC.; two sisters, Virginia Wilson of Brooklet and Nell Blalock of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Chris Owens, Patrick Owens, Summer Simmons, Scott Owens and Abby Owens; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; special friend, Olivia Harvey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Doctor Thad Harvey officiating.

Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.
