Wayne Sapp, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4th, 2026, just shy of his 72nd birthday. He was born on a Wednesday, January 6th, 1954, in Claxton, Georgia, and spent his life dedicated to his family, work, and community in Pembroke, GA.

Wayne started his career at the youthful age of 19 with Strachan Shipping Company, where he served diligently as a Stevedore Foreman. His commitment and dedication were exemplary as he contributed over five decades of service as a clerk before retiring with the International Longshoremen's Association.

Wayne's passions extended beyond his professional life. He had a great love for the land, engaging in hobby hay farming, fishing, and gardening. These interests reflected his deep appreciation for nature and the simple joys of life. Wayne was also an active member of Lawrence Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and participated in events and providing support whenever needed.

He is survived by his adoring wife of 53 years, Carolyn "Kay" Sapp, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. Wayne leaves behind his cherished daughter, Jennifer Sapp Marsh of Pembroke, who is a testament to his loving guidance and support. He is also survived by his dear brothers, Kenneth Lee Sapp (Nell) of Pooler and Larry Sapp (Annie) of Savannah. Wayne's memory will also live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Landon Marsh and Colton Marsh, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who brought joy to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clanton and Annie Mae Sapp, and his brothers, Reggie Sapp and Michael Sapp, who have surely welcomed him with open arms.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Wayne's life at a visitation on Thursday, January 8th, 2026, from 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. at Lawrence Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., with Reverend Albert Hodges officiating. Wayne will be laid to rest in the church cemetery, where he will be forever remembered in the community he loved.

Arrangements are being lovingly handled by Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.

Wayne Sapp's life was a testament to dedication, love, and hard work. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
