Gloria Jean Schneider, affectionately known as Gloria, Mom, Dodie, Mema, Mama Conn, and dear friend to many, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20th, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on October 17th, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama, Gloria lived a life that was as vibrant and inspiring as her beloved Alabama Crimson Tide.

Raised in Birmingham, she spent a significant part of her life in Mount Olive, Alabama, and later in Pembroke, Georgia. In her final years, she resided in Foley, Alabama, sharing cherished moments with her daughter, Cheryl Conn.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Stuart Schneider; her son, Charles "Chuck" Conn, Jr.; her loving parents, X.L. Moore and Arrilee Moore; grandson, Paul "Bear" Sexton; and sister, Barbara Woods.

She is survived by her devoted children, Cheryl Conn, Cary Conn, and Chris Conn; her grandchildren, Christina Sexton, Katie Sexton, Camie Sexton, Daniel Hughson Conn, Kelly Conn Drylie, Christopher, Jacqueline, and James; her great-grandchildren, John Sexton, Matthew Sexton, Morgan Conn, Savannah Hughson, and Cary James (CJ) Drylie; and her great-great-grandchild, Isla Raine Sexton. Each of them carries her legacy and the love she poured into their lives.

A dedicated and passionate restaurant manager for 40 years, Gloria was renowned not only for her professional achievements but also for the profound impact she had on everyone around her. Her life was a testament to living fully and leaving an unforgettable mark on the world. Whether she was singing in the church choir, painting, reading, cooking for family gatherings, enjoying the beach, or skillfully slalom trick water skiing, Gloria embraced each moment with joy and enthusiasm.

A recognized Honorary Recruiter for the United States Marine Corps, Gloria proudly enlisted several of her family members in service, reflecting her deep love for her family and country. Her devotion to God and her church community, coupled with her love for her family, were at the core of her life.

Visitation will be held at Flanders Powell Funeral Home on Monday, July 27th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Chapel, with Pastor Jesse France officiating. Burial will follow at Northside Cemetery.

In honor of Gloria's passion for Alabama Crimson Tide, friends attending the service are encouraged to wear their Alabama attire.

Gloria's radiant spirit, warm heart, and ever-present smile will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and she will forever be remembered and cherished as a wonderful Christian, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
