It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Glen Russell Dowd, who departed this world on Monday, October 6th, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on March 29th, 1943, in Metter, GA, Glen spent his life dedicated to his family and his work. He resided in the warm community of Brooklet, GA, where he was cherished by family and friends alike.
Glen is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Aloise Dowd, and his caring children: sons, Fred "Bubba" Radcliff of Ellabell, Christopher Bray of Brooklet, Kevin Turner (Tammy), Tony Turner (Kelly); as well as his daughters, Shay Williams (Tracy) of Guyton, Tracy Williams (Henry) of Ellabell, Shannon Mattson (Brian) of Texas, Sara Bashlor (Barry) of Bloomingdale and Tammy Rewis (Richard); son-in-law, Jeffrey Jonas; 38 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Dowd and Ruthie Collins Dowd; his sons, Derrell Dowd and Keith Turner Sr.; his daughters, Tonya Jonas, Cynthia Scharp, and Lisa Bray; grandson, Keith Turner Jr.; great grandson, Malachi Vasquez; siblings, Dorothy Ringley, Mildred Scruggs and Needam Dowd; and niece, Janie Lively. He now reunites with them, leaving behind a legacy of love and family values.
A dedicated shipping and receiving supervisor, Glen spent his professional life working for Roger Wood, where he was respected by colleagues and appreciated for his hard work and commitment. Outside of work, Glen was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing and found peace in gardening, cultivating not only plants but also strong family bonds. Glen cherished his family. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye, and he took immense joy in spending time with them, sharing stories, and offering guidance. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he instilled the importance of love and togetherness in all who knew him. Above all, Glen was a lover of Christ. He was a member of Lifesprings Worship Center and devoted much of his time to service to the church community and worship.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 10, 2025 from 3-4pm at Flanders Powell Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4pm in the Chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Julie Stanley- Mack officiating.
Arrangements for Glen are under the care of Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory, where those wishing to honor his memory may gather to pay their respects and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched the hearts of so many.
Glen Russell Dowd will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his hard-working nature, and his love for the simple joys of life. His spirit lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
