Gail Gay Hodge, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on Thursday, May 14th, 2026, at the age of 75. Gail was born on October 17th, 1950, to James Perry Gay and Emma Jean Futch Gay, who preceded her in death, along with her sister, Dale Webster.
Gail dedicated over 15 years of her life as a paraprofessional with the Bryan County Board of Education, making a lasting impact on countless students and colleagues at Lanier Primary School. Her passion for education was only surpassed by her love for family, crafts, sewing, cooking, and gardening. Gail's home was always adorned with beautiful flowers, a testament to her green thumb and her love for nature.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Howard Hodge; her cherished daughter, Becky Crowe (Mark), and son, Jason Hodge (Cindy), both of Pembroke; and her loving sister, Perry Lee Badgley (Dale) of Michigan. Gail's legacy continues through her four grandchildren: Caitlin Young (Cliff), Cameron Crowe, Cody Crowe (Sierra), and Arien Hodge (Caleb Wilson), as well as her great-grandchildren: Chloe Young, Clay Young, Rowen Crowe, Alina Crowe, Claire Crowe, Collins Crowe, Cailyn Crowe, and Avery Hodge. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held at Flanders Powell Funeral Home on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A funeral service celebrating Gail's life will follow at 3:00 pm in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Dan Bryant officiating. Gail will be laid to rest at Northside Cemetery.
Gail's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but the memories of her love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
