Frederick "Freddie" Drexel Lee

Ellabell- Frederick Arlene Drexel Lee (“Freddie”) was born September 27, 1937, in Savannah, Georgia, and was the only child of Judge Frederick Charles Drexel and Geneva Futch Drexel. Raised in Ellabell, GA, she later moved with her parents to Forest Park and then back to Bryan County, graduating with honors from Savannah High School and later Armstrong Junior College. She earned her degree in Education from UGA, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 1959 and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. In 1972, Mrs. Lee received her Juris Doctor degree from Woodrow Wilson College of Law and practiced as a sole practitioner until 1992. She also served as the division office manager for Encyclopedia Britannica and served as editor for The Georgia Professional Engineer Magazine.

She married Julian Ralston Lee (“Rod”) in 1959 and leaves behind two daughters, Dawn Drexel Lee Pleck (Thomas ) and Courtney Ruth Lee Tilley (Bobby). Grandchildren Summer Ray Tilly Mai (Joseph), Juliana Ranae Pleck, Alaina Charlene Pleck, Brittany Rebecca Tilley and one great grandchild Rylee Adriana Tilley.

Freddie was deeply involved in her community—president of the Pembroke Garden Club, community volunteer, poll officer, recipient of the first Supreme Court of Georgia Robert Benhams award for community service and active member of Ellabell United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 20 years and led various church projects. She also served on the Savannah District’s Church Board and worked on church repairs and new builds.

She lived a life full of service, faith, and love, remembered for her deep commitment to God, her church, and her community.

Visitation will be held 10 - 11 A.M. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Bethany Church of Ellabell.

Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Bethany Church of Ellabell with Pastors Don Combs and Patrick Brannen officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
