David Hughes

Mr. David Stephen Hughes, 80, passed away at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin on Sunday, August 12, 2018. Mr. Hughes was born in Cobbtown to the late Jasper Garland and Winnie Fanning Hughes. He served 27 years in the U.S. Army and was a Special Forces Combat Medic in Vietnam. He retired as a Command Sergeant Major. Mr. Hughes enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved animals.

He is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Terkildsen and her husband Duane of Pembroke, Lisa Shuman and her husband Ronn of Pembroke and Jennifer Sesmas of Newnan; four brothers, Robert Hughes of Pembroke, Glen Hughes and his wife Judy of Pembroke, Pat Hughes and his wife Vicki of Pembroke and Jesse Hughes of Minnesota; three sisters, Valerie Hughes of Pembroke, Pam Drazich and her husband Rod of Southern California and Peggy Tate and her husband Raymond of Maine; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Burial will be private at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

Family requests donations be made to the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center Community Living Center, 1826 Veterans Blvd., Dublin, GA 31021 or the Bryan County Animal Shelter, 144 West Industrial Blvd., Pembroke, GA 31321 in lieu of flowers.
