David Cone, Jr.

Mr. David Wilton Cone, Jr. age 84, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Mr. Cone was born in Savannah to the late David Wilton Cone, Sr. and Clara Kiley Cone on November 10, 1938. He served 35 years in the Army National Guard and was also employed for 20 years as a receiving manager with Derst Baking Company. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and the John Duggar American Legion Post 164, Pembroke. He enjoyed collecting coins, loved going to church and spending time at the Pembroke Senior Citizens Center with his friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy Jean Stewart Cone and one brother, Jack Cone.

Survivors include three daughters, Corine Threatt and her husband John of Pembroke, Jeanie Walker of Franklinton, NC. and Sarah Mosley and her husband Michael of Milledgeville; one sister, Linda Arledge of Ellabell; son-in-law, Wade Lawler of Savannah; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dan Bryant officiating.

Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery with Reverend Waymond Duke officiating followed by military honors.
