Mr. Charles “Tony” Winskie, age 81, passed away on Sunday, December18, 2022 at Riverview Health and Rehab. Mr. Winskie was born in Charleston, SC on May 8, 1941 to the late Fred Euphrates and Bertie Lee Durden Winskie. He served in the National Guard and later retired after 20 years of service as a civil service employee with Ft. Stewart. Mr. Winskie enjoyed painting, deer hunting, fishing, working at Christ Baptist Church and spending time with his family. He was a charter member of Christ Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Kilgo Winskie; four sisters, Elouise Winskie Kilpatrick, Willow Belle Winskie Francis, Laverne Winskie Jones and Betty Winskie Sasser; four brothers, Johnny Winskie, Dean Winskie, Mark Winskie and Louie Winskie.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carolyn B. Winskie; four daughters, Lynn Rackley and her husband James, Jr. of Ellabell, Nell McCoy and her husband Alan of Pembroke, Sherri Morgan of Virginia and Kathy Parrish of Blitchton; three brothers, Butch Winskie and his wife Pam of Tennessee, Danny Winskie and his wife Judy of Texas and Wayne Winskie and his wife Gail of Clyo; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Flanders Powell Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Flanders Powell Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
