Charles Larry
Bedgood
Oct 2, 1950 — Jun 20, 2026
Jacksonville
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Charles Larry Bedgood, a cherished soul, who left us on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the age of 75. Charles, a resident of Jacksonville, FL, was born on October 2, 1950, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late Johnnie M. Sutherland and Lois V. Whitfield. He spent most of his young life in beautiful Savannah, Georgia.
As a devoted and loving family man, Charles is survived by his children: Paul Bryan Rowe, Derek Jason Bedgood and his wife Sarah, and Stephanie Brookes and her husband Dean. He was a proud grandfather to David "Pax", Tyler, Victoria, Joshua, Cheyenne, Daniel, Caleb, and Lily, and a great-grandfather to sweet Piper. Charles is also survived by his sister Sheron Dianne Siegesmund, his brother Mike Sutherland and wife Debbie and numerous nieces and nephews. He joins his beloved wife, Laura Lucille Bedgood, in eternal rest, alongside his father, mother, and brothers, Alvin Sutherland and Bobby Smith.
Charles was a man of faith, dedicated to his church community at Olive Branch Baptist Church. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he found joy and solace in reading his Bible and praising the Lord in his quiet time. A man of intelligence and sharp wit, Charles earned an Associate's Degree in Business from Savannah State College and proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years.
Professionally, Charles was a dedicated supervisor at Roger Wood, known for his hard work and commitment. His colleagues regarded him as a man of integrity who wore many hats and provided sound guidance, cloaked in the wisdom of years well-lived.
An avid sports fan, Charles was particularly passionate about the University of Alabama; his enthusiasm for sports history was matched only by his love for numbers and his remarkable ability to remember every family member's birthdate.
In his personal life, Charles cherished his time walking outdoors, an activity he pursued with zeal, in reflection and gratitude. His affectionate and loving nature endeared him to all, and he was an immeasurable source of warmth and strength to his family.
The family invites all who knew Charles to celebrate and honor his life at a visitation on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory in Pembroke, GA. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00 am. Pallbearers include David Jenkins, Joshua Jenkins, Tyler Bedgood, Daniel Bedgood, Mitchell Rowe, Stephen Rowe, Jeffery Rowe, and Brandon Bacon, who will carry Charles to his final resting place with the dignity and respect he so richly deserves.
Arrangements are being handled by Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory.
May we find comfort in the legacy of love, faith, and resilience that Charles leaves behind, and may he rest in eternal peace.
