Sara Catherine "Cathy" Joiner Sanders, age 62, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Sanders was a long-time resident of Pembroke and served as the secretary for Bryan County Middle School until her retirement. Mrs. Sanders was a former leader with the Savannah Chapter of the Girl Scouts, she enjoyed the mountains of North Georgia and loved time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Everett Joiner and Evelyn Wynn Joiner.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Ronald Everett Sanders of Pembroke; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Dawn Marie Sanders of Pembroke; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Tony Greeson of Phoenix, AZ; four brothers, T.J. Joiner of Huntsville, Robert Joiner of Leesburg, Charlie Lee Joiner of Seffner, FL and Wayne Joiner of Troy, AL; one sister, Mary Lawson of Riverview, FL; and four grandchildren, Nick and Sarah Greeson and Blake and Scarlett Sanders.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday evening, Aug. 18, 2016 at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home with Pastor Stanley Tyson officiating.
Interment will follow in Northside Cemetery.
