Obituary

With heavy hearts, the Edwards family announces the passing of Carl Thomas Edwards II on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the age of 45. Born in Savannah, Georgia and grew up Guyton, GA. where he was affectionately known as Sandhill Samara. Carl was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend who touched the lives of everyone he met.

A lifelong resident of Georgia, Carl resided in Ellabell with his devoted wife of 24 years, Christina Maria Edwards. Together they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising four wonderful children. Carl is survived by his cherished children, Aliyah Dickey (Brett) of Jacksonville, NC, Carl Thomas Edwards, III, Emma Edwards, and Aubrey Edwards, all of Ellabell. His loyal Transylvanian hound, Lizzy, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who mourn his passing also survived him.

Carl was the adored son of Carl Thomas Edwards, I, and Dorothy Ann Seigler Edwards of Guyton, and the dear brother to Susan Lofthouse (Toby) of Springfield, Julie Glover, and Brittany NeSmith of Ellabell. His mother-in-law, Maria Welch of Ellabell, also shares in the family's sorrow.

Carl loved spending time outdoors, particularly at the beach, and was known for his passion for wrestling and martial arts, an enthusiasm that began in his youth. He found joy in listening to rock bands and organizing family BBQs, moments cherished for their warmth and happiness. His love for life and fun was infectious, bringing a smile to every occasion.

Professionally, Carl dedicated 15 years as an Order Fulfillment Specialist at JCB. Throughout his career, he was known for his dedication and hard work, earning respect and friendship among his colleagues.

He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Allen Edwards, his paternal grandfather, Jack Edwards, and his maternal grandparents, Dan and Gladys Seigler.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at Sandhill Baptist Church on Friday, October 16, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Derward Poole and Pastor Benny Edwards. A private burial will be held thereafter.

Arrangements are in the caring hands of Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory. Carl's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

Carl’s memory will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us of the power of love, laughter, and the importance of family. Car's family would like to extended a special thank you to Ernest Seigler and Thomas Claxton May he rest peacefully in the embrace of those who preceded him in eternity.
