It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bobby Lee Newman, a beloved brother, friend, and community member, who departed this life on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, at the age of 66. Bobby was born on Tuesday, April 19th, 1960, in Statesboro, Georgia, and he later resided in Ellabell, GA, where he touched many lives with his kindness and dedication.
Bobby served his country honorably in the United States Air Force, carrying forward a deep sense of duty and patriotism throughout his life. Following his military service, Bobby devoted 35 years to his work as an HVAC Technician, where he was respected for his skill and commitment.
He was an active member of Local Unions 188 and 475, where he built lifelong friendships. Beyond his work, Bobby was a devoted Dale Earnhardt memorabilia collector, a passionate fisherman, and cherished the time spent with his family and was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church.
Bobby is survived by his loving sisters, Billie Jean DeMine and her husband Eddie of Pembroke, Mona Waters and her husband Mutt, and Mary Alice Taylor and her husband Mike, all of Nicholls. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edison Newman and Erva Lee Newman; four brothers, Andy, Paul, Steve, and Gary Newman; and two sisters, Evon Futch and Ranee Kicklighter.
The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects at a visitation held at Flanders Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18th, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm, after which Bobby will be laid to rest at Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flanders Powell Funeral Home & Crematory. Bobby's legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will be dearly missed but will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
